About

Simplify. Online. Academia. Project.

As much as we love the ever evolving world of FOAM (Free Online Access Meducation), we feel strongly that it is key for novice learners to master the basics of the art of Emergency Medicine before engaging in cutting edge discussions.

The Simplify.Online.Academia.Project. (S.O.A.P.) was designed to do just that: a comprehensive, evidence based, peer reviewed and up to date overview of the most common diseases and complaints we encounter in our beloved Emergency Department.

Please feel free to S.O.A.P. during your shift, or when you would like to dive into the FOAM but want to understand the basics first. We will provide you with a list of S.O.A.P. approved, high quality links to the best FOAM that’s out there, adjusted to your level of learning.

@Maiteanna

I am an Emergency Medicine resident at the University of Maryland Medical Center in downtown Baltimore. My last name kind of gives it away: I am not originally from around here, as I was born and raised in Utrecht, the Netherlands. I went to medical school at Universiteit Utrecht, and moved to Baltimore for residency. I have a passion for all things emergency medicine, critical care, cardiology, education, simplifying life and pegacorns.

    I think this site is a great idea! I’m a medical student and the FOAM stuff is very interesting but the discussion is sometimes too technical. I think you are addressing a real need. Well done, keep it up!

    What a great idea. This site has the potential to be an awesome resource in the world of FOAM. It really needs some more content to be uploaded but definitely has potential. I will check in from time to time.
